Yay! Almost Festival Time :)

Filed in Blog, Event Details by on 15th August 2012 0 Comments • views: 2376

We get so excited and chaotic when we get to the middle of August as we prepare for the Wirral and Liverpool Food and Drink Festivals. They really are brilliant and a “must see” for anyone passionate about food. Both festivals offer an amazing array of food producers as well as interesting and unique demonstrations from respected chefs. This year the Liverpool Food Festival is also  hosting a Chocolate Garden which is really exciting!! The Wirral Food and Drink Festival has “The Good Life” tent – can’t wait to see it.

Personally if we weren’t attending with our chocolates anyway, I would go to both – they are both themed around food but very different!

Better get cracking with our production for these!

The dates to save in your diaries are:

Wirral Food and Drink Festival – 26th and 27th August

Liverpool Food and Drink Festival  – 1st and 2nd September

We have two tickets for the Wirral Food and Drink and two tickets for the Liverpool Food and Drink up for grabs this month and it’s so easy to win them.
All you have to do is design a truffle. Weren’t we all amazed and impressed with the TeamGB this year?! So, in celebration of the amazing medals and sucesses of TeamGB, what truffle would you design for them?

The more creative the better and if your ideas special enough we may even create it for the festivals to sell!

Submit entries via facebook on our wall or by tweeting your idea to @ChocolateCellar with #olympictruffle
Closing date midday Thursday 23rd August 2012.

Love begins at home…

“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.”  – Mother Teresa

I love this quote. For me it shows what Valentine’s Day is all about.

Many people seem to find Valentine’s Day a stressful time.

Quite often couples agree not to do much on Valentine’s. Men are then baffled when their partner presents them with a gift on the day with an expectant look on their face. There is then a sudden panic as one tries to arrange an amazing experience for their partner that they can present them with as a surprise on Valentine’s Evening. We have often been called in to save the day last minute!

From a female perspective I would say it is not about the gift itself. Obviously there is a certain standard that the gift should pass. It is more about the gesture. It is about the thought and effort that has gone in to the gift. It is about feeling valued, and knowing that you weren’t an afterthought on the way home from work. It is about the delight you feel when you go through the mechanics of untying the ribbon, opening the box and finding a little treat just for you.

We have put together a few tips that we think are important – we hope you find them useful:

  • Plan ahead – look around you. When you start to see pink and red in the shop windows with lots of hearts everywhere it is time to think about what you would like to do for Valentines. The date does not change – it is always on 14th February.
  • Keep it a surprise – most people love surprises!
  • Consider the recipient – think about what your Valentine really likes. Find out if they prefer milk or dark chocolate before buying that box of chocolates!
  •  Wrap it – even if it is in a ready-made gift bag.

If you do come to the conclusion that our chocolates would make the perfect gift, here is the link to pre-order www.thechocolatecellar.co.uk/shop

Bold Street – Bolder and Brighter than ever?

Filed in Blog by on 25th January 2015 0 Comments • views: 2531

January this year was more of a shock to me than usual  – just the cold weather after such a warm summer and autumn, slightly drab days after the brightly lit stores and magical fairy lights of Christmas. That “Back to School” feeling – really left me hankering for duvet days more than ever before.

Trying to shake it off I took a wander along Bold Street. Many years ago when I first moved to Liverpool a friend mentioned Bold St to me, but I never really explored it then. It is one of those places which you want to drift along and in my commodity trading days I never really drifted but strode with a purpose and tended to bypass everyday magic. More and more over the past few years I have found Bold street start to become a little Bohemian Haven . The little businesses there are a real credit to the city with their very individual styles and approaches.

I find it truly uplifting when I wander along here listening and just soaking in the atmosphere.

So – I did this in my little daze a few weeks ago and came away truly inspired.

A result of the daze is our Bold Street Collection – a collection of truffles inspired by those wonderful eateries ….  we hope you enjoy reading about it on this link (you can also order it here)

An update on workshops

Filed in Blog, Event Details, workshops by on 4th December 2015 0 Comments • views: 2467

Following on from lots of feedback we are now offering workshops for families. We are really excited to be running these as it is something we have been trying to set up for a while.

This workshop is a fun filled workshop for both adults and children and is aimed at families. Ideal for parents and children or grandparents and grandchildren to have a great experience making chocolate together. This lasts approx 1 ½ hours and allows the participants to learn a bit about chocolate making and then have a go at making a few items like lollies / bars themselves.

The workshops will be held at Claremont Kitchen so families can enjoy breakfast or lunch at the Farm Shop Cafe before or after the workshop.

We are also still running the dabble and creative chocolate making workshops as follows:

Dabble Workshop

This two hour chocolate making workshop begins with a talk about how chocolate makes it from the bean to the bar, followed by a practical session where we demonstrate various techniques before giving you the chance to create your own masterpieces. Following a chocolate quiz, everybody gets the chance to hand-wrap their creations to take home. The price includes a hot chocolate drink.

Creative Workshop

The three hour chocolate workshop begins with information on the history of chocolate and then the pleasurable task of a guided chocolate tasting. You will then create truffle fillings, dip your truffles in Belgian chocolate and design and decorate your toppings. All attendees then take home their creations of fine genuine Belgian chocolates all wrapped, designed and made by you. The price includes a hot chocolate drink.

Our workshops are popular for corporate events, birthday parties, hen /stag parties and special individual treats.

We can run corporate team building workshops as well as workshops for school groups. Please contact us for further information.

Private workshops can be arranged at a mutually convenient time for groups of 6 or more people. If you wish to book a private workshop please contact us.

Dates for public workshops for 2016 up until April are:
