An update on workshops

Filed in Blog, Event Details, workshops by on 4th December 2015 0 Comments • views: 2467

Following on from lots of feedback we are now offering workshops for families. We are really excited to be running these as it is something we have been trying to set up for a while.

This workshop is a fun filled workshop for both adults and children and is aimed at families. Ideal for parents and children or grandparents and grandchildren to have a great experience making chocolate together. This lasts approx 1 ½ hours and allows the participants to learn a bit about chocolate making and then have a go at making a few items like lollies / bars themselves.

The workshops will be held at Claremont Kitchen so families can enjoy breakfast or lunch at the Farm Shop Cafe before or after the workshop.

We are also still running the dabble and creative chocolate making workshops as follows:

Dabble Workshop

This two hour chocolate making workshop begins with a talk about how chocolate makes it from the bean to the bar, followed by a practical session where we demonstrate various techniques before giving you the chance to create your own masterpieces. Following a chocolate quiz, everybody gets the chance to hand-wrap their creations to take home. The price includes a hot chocolate drink.

Creative Workshop

The three hour chocolate workshop begins with information on the history of chocolate and then the pleasurable task of a guided chocolate tasting. You will then create truffle fillings, dip your truffles in Belgian chocolate and design and decorate your toppings. All attendees then take home their creations of fine genuine Belgian chocolates all wrapped, designed and made by you. The price includes a hot chocolate drink.

Our workshops are popular for corporate events, birthday parties, hen /stag parties and special individual treats.

We can run corporate team building workshops as well as workshops for school groups. Please contact us for further information.

Private workshops can be arranged at a mutually convenient time for groups of 6 or more people. If you wish to book a private workshop please contact us.

Looking ahead to 2017

Filed in Blog, Hello, News, workshops by on 8th January 2017 0 Comments • views: 2497

So we are finally out of the chasm of Christmas and New Year – I believe it really is “back to school” for us all now!

2016 was a magical and crazy year for us – we made many new friends both personal and business.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • We took on the lovely Ella as part of the team.
  • We ran our first family workshops at Claremont Farm and also started our workshops at REX Liverpool.
  • We were delighted to be asked to run the Albert Dock Easter Sessions.
  • We ran lots of Hen Parties at the lovely Siren Cafe.
  • We were filmed by the lovely Rachel Rhodes for The Guide Liverpool.
  • We took part in the Queen’s 90th Celebrations in Wallasey Village.
  • We schemed and plotted with Squidges to bring you Creepy Creations at Claremont and were aided and abetted in this by Readnowwritenow and AlrightPetal.
  • We enjoyed the Summer Arts Market with Open Culture and were blown away by the amazing Winter Arts Market at the Anglican Cathedral!
  • We were named as one of the Small Business 100 and were so very honoured to be amongst the other amazing businesses that were chosen.
  • We went to Downing Street and made it on time!!

Phew! What a fab year that was for us and we were so truly thankful for all the support from all of our friends and family along the way.

We have had a break now and had some lovely family and friends time and Christmas and New Year Celebrations do indeed seem a dim and distant memory.

So here we are on the brink of 2017 and hoping that it will be as blessed. We are already hatching plans for Valentines Day and Easter (Not quite making anything for those yet!!)

We have been taking school workshop bookings as well as hen parties and are now in the process of sorting out further workshops for the gifted Workshop Vouchers out there.

Do watch this space for more news – hope this year is good to you too 🙂

Spring Break!

So – our pledge of writing a regular blog sort of faded into the background as we crazily made chocolate for Mothers’ Day and Easter.

We hope you managed to follow us on Instagram as we absolutely loved taking part in  the #MarchMeetTheMaker Challenge – this was set by Joanne Hawker and many of our Mersey Etsy Team members participated in this.

We hope it gave you an insight how tiny little micro businesses like ours work. We certainly enjoyed seeing pictures of our creative friends and their creativity.

We also had lots of fun in the local press and media chatting about all things chocolatey in the run up to Easter.

We have lots to chat about and our next blog will be all about reviews.

In the meantime – our next workshop is on 25th June at Claremont Farm –  just 3 places left on this one so please call us if you would like to book.

May weekends are fully booked with Hen parties but we do have availabilty in June and July for hen parties and school workshops – please get in touch to book.

Unicorns, Dinosaurs and Workshops

Filed in Blog, Event Details, Hello, workshops by on 9th April 2018 0 Comments • views: 1627

So Easter was a little bit manic with making Unicorns and Dinosaurs. We were overwhelmed with the lovely comments we received as feedback to the eggs we made.

Thank you so much – we are delighted that we were able to bring so much happiness with our little treats.

We have been a bot behind with sorting out workshops … now that Valentines, Mothers Day and Easter have been dealt with we are delighted that we have managed to get back to taking hen party bookings as well as school workshops and team building corporate workshops.

We are still holding them at HUS, Siren and Claremont Farm and are also now working with Baltic Creative in the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool to add more workshops.

Our next Dabble and Creative workshops are at Claremont Farm on 16th June. … Just in time for Fathers Day maybe?

If you would like to book please head to our online  shop and purchase a voucher or Click here for the Dabble workshop via Eventbrite    and Click here for the Creative workshop link on Eventbrite

My trip to Downing Street

On 28th November I was delighted to be heading to Downing Street.

I had been invited as a Small Business Champion by the Small Business Saturday Campaign to celebrate 5 years of the campaign.

I had been 2 years ago as part of the small business 100 for 2016.

Firstly I wasn’t sure I should go at such a busy time of year for the business… and then I thought “What an honour! I must go!”. So, after sorting out arrangements for work and childcare, I headed down to London, head buzzing with all the bits I needed to do when I got back. I texted my nephew about meeting him for a drink after he finished work and generally filled my time.

It wasn’t until I got to the gates of Downing Street and saw tourists taking pictures that I realised what a special occasion this was and how privileged I was to be invited.

We had the security checks and the staff at the gates were extremely polite and helpful… they even let me take my giant box of chocolates through.

The invitation this time was for 11 Downing St… it had been no. 10 two years ago!

I met other fellow business champions and we decided to have a few pictures in front of the famous door of no. 10 – alas, the police wouldn’t let me hold up my box of chocolates as it would have been seen as advertising!

We were then invited in to number 11 for a drinks and canapés reception. We had to leave our phones behind in little cubby holes and weren’t allowed to take any pictures whilst inside.

The building itself is beautiful and grand but not overwhelming. The staircase leading up to the reception room at no. 10 has beautiful portraits of previous prime ministers and I did wonder if it would be previous chancellors here.

It isn’t… it is covered with political cartoons, caricatures and engravings of past Chancellors of the Exchequer. It is a tradition that each Chancellor gets to choose the cartoon he wants to represent him.

The afternoon was spent enjoying the setting and chatting with other great small business owners and also meeting the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond and the Secretary of state for health and social care,  Matt Hancock as well as representatives from supporting organisations such as Royal Mail, American Express, the Duke of Edinburgh’s iDEA program and many more.

We had speeches and photos and then the afternoon drew to a close.

It was a very special afternoon and it was delightful. Regardless of politics, everyone was respectful, polite and happy.

I was very glad that I had accepted the invitation and was truly honoured and grateful for being on this interesting small business journey.

As always, I am always thankful for all who support our little business.

A different Valentine’s day? views: 520

Valentine’s Day is internationally recognised as a day of love and adoration; taking its name from the 3rd Century Roman Saint Valentine, who was arrested and later martyred after conducting marriages in defiance of Emperor Claudius 2nd.
