I love Facebook and Twitter – it gives us all a chance to catch up with each other and make announcements but avoids cluttering in boxes. Join our facebook group here and /or follow us on twitter here. We will be announcing any events /markets / news items on both facebook and twitter.

Events!!

I love all the events that are coming up.

The Wirral Food and Drink Festival is a particular favourite of mine as it is near home, the setting is amazing, particularly in the courtyard and the team running it are all absolutely fabulous. The atmosphere is wonderful … for the past 3 years they’ve even managed to get the weather right! (Well almost!) If there is only one event you go to all year, make it this one! We will be launching our Chocolate Tasting Club here!

Last year was the first “opening event” for Liverpool Food and Drink Festival … very different in style to the Wirral, but equally fantastic. The organisation was fabulous and I felt very safe taking along my two little ones. The Festival opens with an event at Sefton Park and then restaurants (and chocolateries)  hold special events through the week – we have a cheese, chocolate and wine tasting on the Monday and a chocolate tasting on the Tuesday. The week closes with Feast on Hope Street!

For me these events are an eye opener as I see all the amazing foods that are available to us!  I always come away with bag fulls of food and brilliant ideas … it is so different buying food from a producer! Their passion for their food is always so intense and they can tell you so much about their food that you would probably never know if you only stuck to supermarkets.

Can you tell I’m getting excited?! Anyway I hope this year will be fabulous again and look forward to seeing both old and new visitors. Enjoy!

Spring Break!

So – our pledge of writing a regular blog sort of faded into the background as we crazily made chocolate for Mothers’ Day and Easter.

We hope you managed to follow us on Instagram as we absolutely loved taking part in  the #MarchMeetTheMaker Challenge – this was set by Joanne Hawker and many of our Mersey Etsy Team members participated in this.

We hope it gave you an insight how tiny little micro businesses like ours work. We certainly enjoyed seeing pictures of our creative friends and their creativity.

We also had lots of fun in the local press and media chatting about all things chocolatey in the run up to Easter.

We have lots to chat about and our next blog will be all about reviews.

In the meantime – our next workshop is on 25th June at Claremont Farm –  just 3 places left on this one so please call us if you would like to book.

May weekends are fully booked with Hen parties but we do have availabilty in June and July for hen parties and school workshops – please get in touch to book.

Chocolate and Wine Tasting

Filed in Blog, Event Details, News, Tastings by on 10th May 2017 0 Comments • views: 2027

We’re really excited to be collaborating with Chester Beer and Wine – a fabulous local Beer and Wine shop. If you haven’t visited them yet do pop in and have a look at their amazing selection of wines! (And beer… but we’re not really beer drinkers at The Chocolate Cellar!)

We will be with them at the Doubletree by Hilton on Wednesday 17th May with a few tasters of chocolate.

On the 20th of July we will be at the Chester Beer and Wine Shop in Hoole and we will be co-hosting a guided chocolate and wine tasting. The chocolates and wine have been carefully matched to provide you with a delicious taste sensation and we hope you will agree with our delightful selections.

Tickets are available for both events from the Chester Beer and Wine website: Chester Beer and Wine Tastings

Baltic Market

We were really excited to be part of the farmers market at the Baltic Market yesterday.

We registered our interest as soon as we heard that a market was going to be running there – just by the old Cains Brewery.

For years we have thought that Liverpool was crying out for a local market run by local people full of local producers – and at last a decent one has arrived.

The people behind this market, David and Olly have spent a number of years working with small local independent businesses and understand the need for unity and collaboration.

The atmosphere at the market was fabulous, our neighbouring stall holders were delightful, helpful and friendly, the produce was locally made and of top notch quality – we loved being part of this and are looking forward to the first Sunday of every month where we can take our chocolates along.

Of course, there were teething problems – we ran out of stock, the market was packed and people had to queue to get in … but Hey! Give the guys a break!! These are really the right kind of teething troubles to have and in due course will be ironed out.

We are also really looking forward to the Flea market and the makers markets planned on the other Sundays.

Thank you Baltic Market for including us in this fabulous community.

A different Valentine’s day? views: 520

Valentine’s Day is internationally recognised as a day of love and adoration; taking its name from the 3rd Century Roman Saint Valentine, who was arrested and later martyred after conducting marriages in defiance of Emperor Claudius 2nd. Nowadays western countries celebrate this holiday with outpourings of flowers, chocolate, and teddy bears for their beloved – […]
